Pastoral Services and Education

Spirituality & Prayer Resources

The Pastoral Services and Education Department of Northwestern Memorial Hospital Welcomes You!

Pastoral Services & Education is committed to providing patients, their families, and hospital staff with an experience of support, compassion, and kindness inspired by the presence of the Divine. We are prepared to assist in your spiritual journey through prayer, spiritual counseling, religious sacraments, or simply by listening to your story.

Our interfaith chaplains serve individuals of all faith traditions and are available to accommodate religious and spiritual needs and provide support. Patients and their families can access Pastoral Services at any time, day or night.

In addition to these online resources there are two chapels on the Hospital's campus:

251 E. Huron, 2nd floor

The non-denominational chapel, located on the second floor of the Feinberg Pavilion, serves the spiritual and religious needs of patients and visitors. It is open 24 hours a day, and Interfaith worship services are held every Sunday at 10 a.m. and every Friday at 12:30 p.m., as well as on holidays.

250 E. Superior, 3rd floor

An interfaith chapel is available on the third floor of Prentice Women’s Hospital for our patients and visitors. We also offer pastoral care offices.

Thought For Today

My Lord God,
I have no idea where I am going.
I do not see the road ahead of me.
I cannot know for certain where it will end.
Nor do I really know myself, and
The fact that I think I am following your will
Does not mean that I am actually doing so.
But I believe that the desire to please you
Does in fact please you.
And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing.
I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.
And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road
Though I may know nothing about it.
Therefore I will trust you always
Though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death.
I will not fear, for you are ever with me,
And you will never leave me to face my perils alone.
